Desktop Computing Resources
The Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences provides computers for users in their offices. Windows desktops are provided only to administrative staff, while desktops running Red Hat Enterprise Linux can be provided to research staff and faculty both at Warren Weaver Hall and 60 5th Avenue. To use any CIMS-managed computing resources, you will need to have Courant computer account. Please see the information obtaining an account or maintaining your account.
In recent years, a growing number of users are choosing to use a single device (laptop or even tablet) for office, home and travel. The Courant IT group can provide desktop accommodations, such as monitor (generally only one per user, though faculty may choose to order a second monitor with their own funding), keyboard, mouse and a dock, to reproduce the traditional desktop setups for users in their offices. Because of turnover in offices from one year to the next, it's possible that new users will not have what they need on their desks. If that's the case, please reach out to helpdesk@cims.nyu.edu and our staff will be happy to try and help get you set up with a desktop computer and/or peripheral equipment.
