Facilities Updates

There are a number of ongoing projects at Warren Weaver Hall and 60 5th Ave:

Warren Weaver Hall

  • Stairwell B painting: Stairwell B will be closed next week Wednesday 7/24 through Friday 7/26 for painting floors 3-13. All 3 elevators will be in service and Stairwell A will be available. Stairwell A does not have lobby access and leads directly into the plaza without reentry. The building staff will hang signs to remind everyone of the work.
  • HVAC Upgrades - cooling shutdown August 2-4: FCM has scheduled an additional phase of work for HVAC upgrade that requires a cooling shutdown. The cooling shutdown will begin after 3pm on Friday, August 2 and may not take effect for a few hours. Cooling will be restored as soon as the upgrades are completed, no later than Sunday night, August 4. Cooling should be fully functioning by Monday morning, August 5. The cooling systems for the 2nd Floor Data Center will remain online. This project will greatly improve the building energy efficiency to help meet the University's sustainability goals. It will also result in better performance of systems supporting the HVAC units.
  • 12th floor carpets: New carpet will be installed in the 12th floor elevator lobby the week of August 5th.
  • Riser work: FCM is still investigating the scope of work needed to complete the riser repairs in the *01 offices. They will begin opening some columns this week. Building wide shutdowns have not yet been scheduled. If there are further delays with this project, the work may be rescheduled for winter break.

60 5th Ave

  • Carpet cleaning (4 day floor closure starting 8/8): Carpet and upholstery cleaning for the 3rd, 4th, and 5th floors will start Thursday 8/8. The floors will be closed for 4 days and will reopen first thing Monday morning 8/12. The vendor needs 2 days for the cleaning and an additional 2 days for the surfaces to fully dry. Please make arrangements to work remotely or we can provide alternative offices, classrooms, and meeting rooms at WWH. If you would like your office carpet to be cleaned, please leave the room unlocked Thursday morning and secure or remove valuables.
  • Window cleaning: Exterior and interior window cleaning is scheduled for Friday 7/26 and Saturday 7/27.
