On Saturday, July 25th, 2020, between 2 pm and 6 pm, most of Courant's computer systems will be rebooted to facilitate IP address changes to our main file servers for home, data, and web directories, as well as Courant email and web services. This is part of a general Courant server network infrastructure upgrade that should improve service.

This window of time does not mean everything will be down for that entire time or all at once, but most services will be impacted at one point during this time. Offfice desktop computers and compute nodes will likely be rebooted first to clear filesystem mounts from the servers and make the process go as smoothly as possible

Because server IP addresses are being changed, there may be some delay in the propagation of new addresses to DNS services around the internet, so remote applications, such as directory mounts and browser connections (eg, reload pages), might need to be reinitialized.
