Social Security Information

The appropriate administrator at the Center for Data Science, in the Computer Science department, or in the Mathematics department will provide the student with an Office of Global Services (OGS) letter if they do not have a Social Security number.

This letter should be brought to OGS at 383 Lafayette St. OGS will provide an On-Campus Employment Verification Letter within five business days. OGS will also advise the student on how to obtain a Social Security Number. At the Social Security Office, the student will be provided with a receipt.

Before a student can receive a NYU Wasserman On Campus Student Employee Application form, they need either:

  • a Social Security number, or
  • a Social Security receipt signifying they have applied for a Social Security number

The Social Security receipt is necessary to obtain the NYU Wasserman On Campus Student Employee Application form. After receiving this receipt, please follow the directions outlined on the NYU Wasserman page.

If the student does not have a Social Security number or a Social Security receipt, they will need to contact the appropriate administrator at Center for Data Science, in the Computer Science department, or in the Math department. Note: in order to apply for a Social Security number, the student should have already been offered a position in one of these departments.
