Daniel Eceizabarrena – “Multifractality and intermittency in the evolution of vortex filaments”

Courant PIs Workshop 2022

Abstract: One way to better understand fluid turbulence is to explore the appearance of properties observed experimentally in simple models that aim to describe the motion of such fluids. In this talk, I will explain how the Vortex Filament Equation and the closely related 1D Schrödinger map on S^2, both deterministic, show multifractality, intermittency and an energy transference phenomenon when endowed with polygonal initial data.
