Eunsol Choi Receives NSF CAREER Award
December 4, 2025
Eunsol Choi, Assistant Professor of Computer Science and Data Science, has received the Faculty Early Career Development (CAREER) award from the National Science Foundation in support of her project "Building Interactive Language Systems Navigating Rich Knowledge Sources."
Professor Choi's research aims "to improve how information seeking users interact with systems and how systems interact with knowledge sources" by developing a new devised system that "model the complexities of real-world scenarios, where users' questions are ambiguous, answers continuously change based on the context of the interaction, and heterogeneous knowledge sources contain imperfect and outdated information."
CAREER awards are the National Science Foundation’s most prestigious award for junior faculty and are designed to help provide a foundation for a lifetime of scientific leadership. The awards are given to outstanding scientists who exemplify the role of teacher-scholars through research, education, and the integration of education and research.
Professor Choi joined Courant in 2024 from a faculty position at the University of Texas at Austin. Her research spans natural language processing and machine learning, with a focus on interpreting and reasoning about text in dynamic real-world contexts. She received her Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering from University of Washington.
