NYU Takes Silver Medal at the 2024-25 ICPC Greater New York Regional Contest

NYU's top programming team won the silver medal at the 2024-25 International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) Greater New York Regional Contest on November 10th. Team1—comprised of juniors Zhiqian Chen, Kaiyue Guo, and Puming Liu—placed second overall, solving an impressive 11 out of 13 problems. This impressive result secures the team a spot in the 2025 ICPC North America Championship next year.
NYU had six teams competing against 83 teams from 18 universities in the greater New York area. Here's how the other teams placed:
- Ruoxi Hu (freshman), Edward Huang (junior), and Andrew Li (freshman) solved 8 problems, ranking #15.
- Andrew Hua (junior), Pranav Mallavarapu (sophomore), and Patrick Zhang (sophomore) solved 7 problems, ranking #21.
- Venkat Nikhil Kotagiri (first-year M.S.), Frank Liu (senior), and John Quigley (junior) solved 6 problems, ranking #23.
- Yicheng Jiang, Shidong Xu, and Shukai Zhang (all juniors) solved 4 problems, ranking #45.
- Alex Ma (junior) competed solo and solved 4 problems, ranking #48.
