Courant Welcomes New Faculty Members for Spring 2024
January 29, 2024
The Courant Institute is thrilled to welcome three new faculty members this semester:
Anupam Gupta, Professor of Computer Science, pursues research in theoretical computer science with an emphasis on algorithms. Professor Gupta joins us from Carnegie Mellon University, where his work was supported by an NSF CAREER Award and an Alfred P. Sloan Research Fellowship. He was named an ACM Fellow in 2021.
Yi Zhang, Assistant Professor of Mathematics and Atmosphere/Ocean Science, is interested in atmospheric dynamics and the interaction between dynamics, thermodynamics, and radiative transfer. She received her PhD from Princeton University and worked as a Miller Postdoctoral Fellow at UC Berkeley.
Sara Shamekh, Assistant Professor of Mathematics and Atmosphere/Ocean Science, focuses on understanding and modeling atmospheric processes, specifically turbulent fluxes and boundary layer processes. She completed her PhD at École Normale Supérieure in Paris and worked at the GentineLab at Columbia University.
