“Experimental investigation of the transition shallow to deep water in 2D experiments”
I will present our experiments on wave turbulence in shallow water in a 2D wave tank (30mx30m). Boundary conditions are reflective so that to keep the waves in the tank for a long time. In order to obtain a stationary regimes, one has to force continuously the waves to compensate for the weak but non zero dissipation.
Various forcing schemes are tested and the resulting wave fields are analysed in terms of soliton content vs dispersive waves content. Examples of forcing schemes are: direct generation of single or multiple solitons, fission of a sine wave, random forcing.
