Important Information about MATH-UA 377 Midterm

- Tuesday, March 23, 11pm-12:15am
- Wednesday, March 24, 2-3:15pm

Exam rules
- The exam is open book

You are allowed to consult your own notes, lecture notes and slides, your homework solutions, my homework solutions.

You are NOT allowed to use any other sources.
- Zoom rules

You must have your video camera on during the entire exam, including when you are scanning and uploading your solutions

You must be muted.

Your full name must be displayed.

Your video camera must be positioned to show your hands and papers you are writing on.

If necessary, you may log in and display the video from an additional device (e.g. phone or iPad) to the same zoom meeting. Make sure the zoom screen name is your full name.

Write on scratch paper that will not be submitted

Write your final solutions on blank sheets of paper

Occasionally use your trackpad or mouse to view exam problems, notes, or textbook

If you have a question, you may unmute and get my attention.

You may ask questions via Chat only after you have gotten my attention. You can use the keyboard during the chat. See below.
- Forbidden actions
- Using your keyboard, except when using Chat with me
- Speaking
- Using your cell phone in any way
- Clicking or scrolling excessively using your mouse or trackpad
Exam Procedure

At the start of the exam, you will be given access to the exam PDF on Gradescope

Do your initial work on scratch paper (which will not be submitted)

Write your final solution (showing the relevant calculations and reasoning) on clean sheets of paper
- Start the solution to each problem or part on a new blank piece of paper
- You may use more than one page for a solution
- Write NEATLY, in large print, using a dark pen (preferred) or pencil
- Points will be deducted if I have trouble reading the solution
Submission procedure:

Keep your video on until you have finished submitting your exam

Take a of each page of your solutions

Upload the photos to Gradescope

You will have 75 minutes to do the exam and 15 minutes to scan your solutions and upload them to Gradescope.

If you have trouble uploading your solutions to Gradescope, immediately email them to me. You can keep trying to upload them to Gradescope after you do that.
Technical Issues
-
Brief freezing or interruptions of your Zoom connection will be ignored.

If Zoom disconnects, it will usually automatically reconnect. You do not need to do anything.

Reconnect to Zoom manually if necessary.

Zoom logs when you connect and disconnect. This information can be consulted later, if necessary.

If you are unable to upload your exam to Gradescope within the 15 minutes, please send the scans by email to me AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
