Fall 2020 Exam, Quiz, and Homework Policies
If you are student with a disability and want to request
special accommodations, you must be registered with

Neatness and legibility of handwritten quiz, homework, and exam submissions
Everything should be written neatly, legibly, and large enough for the graders to read easily.
Your final answer must be clearly identified (by placing a box around it).
Points will be deducted if the grader has difficulty reading or finding your answer.
- You are strongly recommended to omit from the submission any work that you do NOT want graded. You can also cross out (a single big X suffices) any part of the exam that you do not want graded.
You are expected to know and follow
Out of Sequence Exams and Quizzes
You must email me AT LEAST A WEEK IN ADVANCE.
Medical or family emergencies:
If you miss an exam for a medical, religious, or family emergency reason, you must email me written documentation to me as soon as possible. If your request is more than two days after the exam, you must explain why.
If you are a student athlete who has an exam conflict for reasons other than practice, please email me AT LEAST A WEEK IN ADVANCE a letter from NYU Athletics.
Please email AT LEAST A WEEK IN ADVANCE and BEFORE you finalize your travel plans. Permission is not guaranteed, EVEN IF YOU HAVE ALREADY PURCHASED TICKETS. You will have to take the out of sequence exam or quiz BEFORE the scheduled exam date.
NO ACCOMMODATIONS will be made for exams for reasons of convenient travel, EVEN IF YOU HAVE
ALREADY PURCHASED TICKETS. Please note carefully the date of
your exams and final and plan your travel schedule accordingly.
There will be no makeup quizzes. If you have a valid reason for a missing quiz, such as the ones above, please email me as soon as possible. Except for an emergency, this means BEFORE the quiz.
During the Exam
Time and place:
You are responsible for knowing when and where an exam is being
held. You will not receive any special consideration for missing an exam by mistake.
You may use scratch paper to do preliminary calculations that will not be graded. Please omit from your exam submission any calculations that you do not want graded. Copy your calculations neatly onto your exam paper before submitting it.
Cell phone policy:
No cell phones, iPads or other devices that can
communicate with the internet or other people may be
used. Any such equipment found with the power on will be
interpreted as cheating.
Calculator are forbidden.
No formula sheets are allowed.
All needed formulas will be provided with the exam.
After the exam
Regrading: If you believe that one or more problems on your exam paper were
incorrectly graded or that the exam score was calculated incorrectly,
then you can email me and request a regrade within one week after you receive your exam back.
