We pointed out that computationally, computer graphic imagery tends to fall into two troughs:

  • Non-real time CGI (1-10 hours per frame)
  • Interactive CGI (30-120 frames per second)

Generally speaking, there are three major components to a computer graphics system:

  • Modeling (both shapes and materials)
  • Animation
  • Rendering

We watched two seminal and historically important CGI animations:
