We aim to understand how living systems function. Biological systems often manage to solve problems that stump us, and so we try to learn from biology how to improve our own design capabilities. We develop mathematical models and collaborate closely with experimentalists to explore the complex phenomena exhibited by living systems. These models take the form of pencil-and-paper theory, computational studies, and data-driven approaches. One of the joys of being theorists is that we get to ask questions at the many scales of biology, from individual molecules to communities of organisms. Of course, within this huge landscape we need to make choices about what to study; the Research page includes some of the areas in which we are currently interested, motivated in part by the availability of experimental data. If you are interested in joining the group or collaborating with us, please contact Ofer by email. See this page for more information.
