Mathematical modeling of axonal injuries and damaged neural networks
Pedro D. Maia

Abstract:
Axonal injury is a ubiquitous form of pathology across multiple brain
disorders, such as traumatic brain injury, Alzheimer's disease, and
others. In this talk, we will discuss how to model their effects to
the spike-train propagation by studying heterogeneous active
cable equations. Then, we will show how we can incorporate these
effects into a neuron population to assess how network dysfunction
relates to network impairment.
