Abstract. 
An expository survey of some aspects of the theory of parabolic fixed points
in one-dimensional complex dynamics, and an introduction to some
applications of renormalization ideas in this context. This talk is intended
for the proverbial "general dynamical systems audience;" experts will hear
nothing they don't already know.
