Margaret Bilu

I am a Courant Instructor at the Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences (NYU) . Before that, I did my PhD at Orsay with Antoine Chambert-Loir. I also used to be a teaching assistant at the Mathematics Department of the École Normale Supérieure.

Research

My research interests lie in number theory and algebraic geometry, with particular emphasis on diophantine geometry and motivic integration. My doctoral thesis deals with a motivic analogue of Manin's problem from diophantine geometry, which predicts the dimension and number of irreducible components of maximal dimension of moduli spaces of curves of high degree on certain varieties. The main tools for this are Hrushovski and Kazhdan's motivic Poisson summation formula, a notion of motivic Euler product, as well as the theory of weights in cohomology.
