Title: Current Dissipation in Thin Superconducting Wires: Numerical Evaluation Using the String Method Abstract: Current dissipation in thin superconducting wires is numerically studied using the string method developed recently by E, Ren and Vanden-Eijnden. The system is modeled by time-dependent Ginzburg-Landau equation with a Langevin noise. The most probable transition pathways between neighboring current-carrying metastable states are found numerically, and the prefactors for the transition rates are calculated using thermal dynamical integration. In this talk, we will discuss the details of the numerical method and the numerical results. This a joint work with Tiezheng Qian and Ping Sheng.
