There are a number of construction projects - past, present and future - at Warren Weaver Hall:
Curtain Wall Window Replacement
NYU is replacing the original glass facade of Warren Weaver Hall with a more sustainable and durable system during the summers of 2019, 2021, and 2022. Phase 2 of the windows project, which replaced about 1/3 of WWH’s windows, is still active and parts of it may last into the fall. Impacted offices are available.
Local Law 11
NYU is performing standard Local Law 11 repairs to the WWH facade following phase 2 work of the windows project. This work will go into the fall.
Gould Plaza ADA Accessibility Upgrades
A new ramp from W 4th St to Gould Plaza will be installed and the (non-revolving) lobby doors on both sides of the building are being modified for ADA compliance.
Co-Generation Plant Upgrade and Boiler Replacement
A major renovation of the co-generation plant under WWH is expected to start this fall. The initial phase will involve demolition of a portion of Gould Plaza outside the northwest corner of WWH. It is likely to generate significant noise in rooms 101 and 102, so classes that were scheduled in those rooms are being relocated. As a backup, temporary class spaces are planned for the 12th floor, which is likely to necessitate closing the library for at least part of the year. Installation of a temporary boiler will begin in November 2021.
New energy efficient overhead lighting has been installed in offices and classrooms. New hallway lights will also be installed.
Turnstiles were installed in the lobby. Make sure to have your NYU ID card to gain access to the building.
New thermostats were installed on the 10th and 11th floors.
