Graders and Tutors are recruited and hired directly by the respective department (the Center for Data Science (CDS), the Computer Science (CS) department, the Mathematics (Math) department, or Mathematics for Engineering (Math for Engineering)).
Graders and Tutors at Math for Engineering are classified as hourly student workers, or as semi-monthly students. This means they may be paid on a bi-weekly schedule or as outlined below.
Graders and Tutors at CDS, in the CS department, or in the Math department are paid as Semi-Monthly Students. Due to the structure of payments, Graders and Tutors at CDS, in CS or Math are paid ahead of the working period (if all the information is submitted to Courant Payroll in a timely manner). Payment is issued on the 1st and the 15th of the month. If the 1st or the 15th of the month falls on a weekend or a public holiday, the payment should fall on the first business day before the weekend or the public holiday.
For example, the Grader or Tutor has worked from June 1st to June 15th. Provided June 1st is not on a weekend, payment should be expected on June 1st. An exception to this rule is New Year's Day. Payment on this day will fall on January 2nd.
Graders and Tutors should receive 9-payments in the Fall, and 9-payments in the Spring (dependent on if they are appointed for the Fall or the Spring, or both). If you are appointed for the Summer, Summer months can vary from three payments up to 6-payments depending on how many summer sessions you are appointed for (one summer session versus both summer sessions).
