Linux upgrades continue on the server front. On Thursday (9/15/2011), we expect to take the following servers offline while they are upgraded to Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 (RHEL6):
- Energons (energon[1-4].cims.nyu.edu)
- crunchy3.cims.nyu.edu
- mauler.cims.nyu.edu
- brawler.cims.nyu.edu
Upgrades are expect to last the majority of the afternoon into the evening starting at 3:00 P.M.
We urge people to test any packages that are critical to their work and let us know if they encounter any problems as early as possible. The following hosts have already been upgraded to RHEL6 and are available as compute nodes:
- crunchy4.cims.nyu.edu
- opencl1.cims.nyu.edu
- opencl2.cims.nyu.edu
- cuda1.cims.nyu.edu
- cuda2.cims.nyu.edu
- cuda3.cims.nyu.edu
- cuda4.cims.nyu.edu
In the event that your software doesn't run on the RHEL6 platform, we have temporarily set up some RHEL5 systems as general compute servers (but let us know so we can help migrate it to RHEL6):
- stratus-1-11.cims.nyu.edu
- stratus-2-11.cims.nyu.edu
- stratus-3-11.cims.nyu.edu
- stratus-4-11.cims.nyu.edu
- stratus-5-11.cims.nyu.edu
The upgrades are part of a four phase process that started several weeks ago. The current state of each phase is listed below:
- Phase 1 [COMPLETE] - Partial lab roll out and new servers
- Phase 2 [COMPLETE] - Remainder lab roll out and unattended desktops
- Phase 3 [INPROCESS] - Remainder desktop machines
- Phase 4 [INPROCESS] - Compute servers
See our compute servers page for a list of all available compute servers.
